Director of Student and Children’s Ministries
Job Description: The Director of Student and Children’s Ministries will create and maintain weekly and long-term programs to integrate students (grades 7-12) and children (ages 4-11) into the life of Ovilla United Methodist Church and its community. The Director will provide spiritual leadership to encourage the church’s youth and children toward a life of discipleship.
Time Requirements: This is a part-time, salaried position requiring presence on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, Wednesday evenings, occasional staff meetings, and all other student events throughout the year. Normal expectation would be 20 hours per week of combined in-person and remote duties. Church Conference-sponsored youth mission trips require weeklong attendance at the location.
Qualifications, Skills, Gifts: Students pursuing a degree in Christian Ministry, Education, or related studies; graduates in these degree fields; or individuals with equivalent work experience will be considered. Candidates must be committed to the beliefs of the church and must exhibit a personal relationship with Jesus Christ to provide a role model for young people and ensure responsible behavior. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate connections with the youth, as well as the church staff, parents, and congregants. Familiarity with social media and the internet, as well as general computer skills, are essential. Candidates must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Experience in planning, coordinating, and conducting safe, enriching events and activities is required. Musical ability is a plus.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead the student and children’s ministry programs.
Recruit, train, and lead adult lay volunteer leaders. Administer the Ministry Safe program to assure all volunteers are certified.
Develop leadership skills within the students by enabling them to plan and conduct some of their own activities.
Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities and encouraging parental involvement.
Plan and facilitate participation in the junior and senior high Central Texas Conference Youth in Missions (CTCYM) trips.
Work with the lead pastor to host family-centric events.
Create and maintain a viable social media and web presence.
Other duties as required.

Compensation Range: Up to $25,000/year. Based on experience and leadership ability.
